Red & White Interpreter Strips
Red and White Interpreter Strips were issued from 1933 until 1989 when they were replaced with Red and Tan strips.
Starting in 1933, Scouts earning the Interpreting Merit Badge were also allowed to wear a small strip signifying the foreign language spoken. When the Interpreting merit badge was dropped in 1952, some requirements lived on in the World Brotherhood Merit Badge. When the World Brotherhood Merit Badge changed to Citizenship in the world in 1972 the interpreter strip was no longer linked to a merit badge and had its own requirements.
